The annual West Virginia Homeschool Convention is growing! Whether you are new to homeschooling or an experienced homeschool family, there’s something for everyone on Saturday, February 1 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

Want to spend the weekend in Charleston? Check out these flyers for information on places to stay and dine near the Capitol, as well as local attractions to visit. The Sleep Inn in Cross Lanes has offered a special group rate for anyone attending the convention.

Besides sharing information through exhibitors and workshops, Andrew Pudewa will be the first featured guest speaker! Pudewa is the founder and director of the Institute for Excellence in Writing and a father of seven. Traveling and speaking around the world, he addresses issues related to teaching, writing, thinking, spelling, and music with clarity, experience, and humor. His seminars for parents, students, and teachers have helped transform many reluctant writers and have equipped educators with powerful tools to dramatically improve students’ skills.

Over twenty workshops will be available in addition to four guest speaker sessions. Do you need help understanding dyslexia? Do you want ideas to help your children develop their math skills? Do you want to know how to start a co-op or how to get started with homeschooling? Do you have questions about  homeschooling high school? Do you want to learn more about the legal requirements of homeschooling? Do you want to learn American Sign Language? The workshops will cover these topics and many more!

This year’s exhibitors will be in the expo hall and will include over 100 representatives from higher education institutions, extra-curricular activities, curriculum companies, and more. Tables will also be set up for a free curriculum swap! Activities will be available for children, so bring your whole family. Tickets are $10 for adults and children are free! The early bird rate is available until November 30. You can click here to purchase your tickets.
