Reviewers are listed in alphabetical order.

Disclaimer: The names on this list are for the convenience and help of homeschooling families looking for portfolio reviewers. CHEWV makes no claim to endorse, recommend, or check out each reviewer listed. Neither is this list exhaustive; it consists only of those reviewers who choose to list their names with us for dissemination. Therefore, use of this information is voluntary and reliance upon it should only be taken after independent review.

Note:  It can be prudent to choose a teacher who is familiar with the differences in home tutoring versus group teaching.  Many reviewers have either homeschooled their own children or been involved in the homeschooling community for a number of years.  Not only does that help them assess your child’s progress judiciously, but it allows them to provide you with helpful feedback and ideas.  If your child has special needs, you will find reviewers on this list with special education backgrounds.

2017: “I am currently in my 11th year of homeschooling my children. Prior to having children, I taught in the public school system for more than three years. My training and experience focused on children with special needs ranging from non-verbal to gifted. I am certified in both special and regular education in West Virginia. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your family. I am experienced in working with parents in planning and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) and am available to consult throughout the year as well as for portfolio reviews.

I am currently residing in the Morgantown/Grafton area.

In accordance with WV Law, portfolio reviews will be based on Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. If you do not live in the Morgantown/Grafton area, I am willing to work with you to assess your portfolio. Please contact me via phone or email with any questions or to make arrangements.

My name is Britny Feathers. I am a certified teacher who used to work in the public schools. I am now a homeschool teacher, and have been homeschooling my 2 children in addition to 3 others, for the past three years. We love the flexibility homeschooling has given us! Being a teacher, I know that all students can show mastery in many different ways. Mastery can be shown academically, socially, and emotionally. Homeschooling doesn’t fit the “cookie cutter” standards of public school. All students have unique strengths and learning styles that I will  gladly look for when reviewing all of the work accomplished throughout the school year! I am up to date on all of the homeschooling regulations and support parents’ options of different styles of homeschooling.  I am open to doing portfolio reviews in person, if you are close by, or through online options such as email, zoom, facebook. I can review portfolios for anyone in the state of WV. Feel free to contact me about any questions you may have!

Prior to homeschooling, I taught in the public school system for seven (7) years, two (2) of which were spent teaching special education. In accordance with the WV law, I ask that parents provide their child’s/children’s school work in the subject areas of math, reading, language arts, science and social studies. If you do not live in my region of the state, I am willing to work with you to make convenient arrangements to receive and return your portfolio(s). If you have questions, please email or call me.”

I have taught in public and Christian schools for 35 years. I have a Master’s Degree + 45 in Education. I have been a portfolio reviewer in Virginia Beach for more than 10 years. I live in Salem WV, Harrison County. I charge $75 for a review. Each additional review for multiple children would be $50. I would like to administer the Peabody Assessment Test, as well. This is a quick and accurate assessment of grade equivalency. The results will only be shared with the parent. Sometimes, a child may perform at a certain level in classwork, but the actual grade equivalency score is quite different on a standardized test. I am willing to review in any of the surrounding counties and would consider it an honor to do so.

Serving homeschoolers primarily in the Eastern Panhandle of WV

I earned my degree at Shepherd University in Music Education and later completed my Masters in Elementary Education at WVU. I worked for Berkeley County Schools as an elementary music teacher for over 10 years before making the decision to stay home with my first daughter. Since then I have been blessed with over 25 children, most of whom have been foster children. I began homeschooling in 2005 when my oldest began kindergarten and presently teach three daughters.

I have been completing portfolio reviews for several years for WV homeschoolers and enjoy sharing the knowledge I’ve gleaned from fellow homeschoolers and passing it on to others. It’s my goal to make your portfolio evaluation a positive, encouraging, enjoyable process.

I have been evaluating in WV for 12 years. I am a home school mom and college instructor from Wood County. I will evaluate in any WV county.
