Join the Beebots Nature Journaling Contest to win a gift card and prize box! Here’s everything you need to know to get started:
Nature journaling is collecting and organizing your observations, questions, connections, and explanations on the pages of a notebook using words, pictures, and numbers.
To create a nature journaling page, start by going outside. Take a walk around your yard, in a park, or down a trail. Look up at the sky or at the inside of a flower pot. What do you see? Then use the template below to get started:
I notice_______. It reminds me of _______. I wonder ______.
Next, decide the subject of your journaling page. It can be an insect, the soil, a leaf, the clouds, or an animal. Anything you spot out in nature would be a great subject! Finally, gather up your art supplies. You don’t have to be an artist to create a record of your observations. Draw a picture of what you see – crayons, pencils, or colored pencils with a piece of paper work great. Try to record each detail. What is the temperature outside? Where did you see what you are drawing? What do you notice that is interesting to you?
Check out additional nature journaling information here.
Once you have finished your page, take a picture and email it to: AMBERMWVU@GMAIL.COM Be sure to include your name, grade, address, and telephone number. The deadline is April 1, 2024.
A winner will be selected in each of the following grade categories: Kindergarten-2nd, 3-5th, 6-8th, and high school. These winners will receive a fun prize box, including a $25 Amazon gift card! There will also be a grand prize winner – whose nature journal entry will be featured in April at the Houston, Texas, World Robotics Competition.
