The newest couple on CHEWV’s Leadership Team, Steve and Kaylan Cook, have taken on one of CHEWV’s largest ministries, our Testing Service.
Steve and Kaylan have been homeschooling their three children (ages 12, 8, and 5) for the past eight years. They share that homeschooling isn’t just about academics for them; it is a calling. They believe the most important work they will ever do happens within the walls of their home, shaping the hearts and minds of their children to love God and to live with purpose. They find great joy walking alongside their children at different stages, from early learners discovering the wonders of His creation to a young teen beginning to explore her God-given talents.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 guides their approach: “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.“
Steve and Kaylan have learned that God does not measure success by outcomes, but by faithfulness. Each day is an opportunity to show up, do the work He has called them to, and trust Him with the results. Whether through lessons, laughter, or simple moments around the table, they bring what they have and trust God to multiply it, just as He did with the loaves and fish.
Homeschooling has become their way of living this faithfulness day by day, trusting God to grow in their children what only He can. Over the years, they have also found a passion for supporting fellow families in their local communities, sharing in both the challenges and the blessings of learning at home.
Encouraging and supporting other families in their own journeys has become a natural extension of their homeschool calling. They are thankful for the CHEWV community that shares the same vision.
