A statewide homeschool organization can do something for you that no one else can -- work with you to protect your freedom to homeschool in West Virginia.
CHEWV stays abreast of what is happening at the county and state levels in West Virginia. While you are homeschooling, CHEWV is meeting with county and state officials, forging relationships with WV legislators, and attending interim legislative meetings (to stay abreast of compulsory age changes, truancy regulation changes, and educational trends that affect you as a homeschooling family).
In short, CHEWV is working for you.
Behind the scenes, our legislative liaison, John Carey, along with board members, is carefully monitoring our educational freedoms. We work closely with Mike Donnelly of HSLDA for legal counsel and intervention.
When you join CHEWV, you are helping support West Virginia homeschooling freedoms. CHEWV functions by volunteer labor. Each board member is a volunteer. Each test center coordinator, conference worker, newsletter proofreader and registrar is a volunteer. We are homeschooling parents working together as the Body of Christ.
When you join CHEWV, your $15 membership dues enable us to maintain our website and provide valuable services to homeschoolers across the state.
